Nature Quest 2006
based at Concan on the Frio River, Texas
27 April - 30 April 2006
In 2006 we went to the 7th Annual Nature Quest.  The birding was not as good due to a very dry winter, but we really enjoyed an evening at the "Sunset Bat Flight".

Here are a few photos showing the highlights of the Frio Bat Flight, which takes place at the Frio Cave from mid-March through September.  10-12 million of these Mexican Free-tailed Bats leave the cave every evening to feed on the local flying insect population.  There were several Red-tailed Hawks hunting the bats as they left the cave - very exciting to watch!
