Backyard birds - 2010
Richmond, near Houston, Texas
The best backyard bird of the year was definitely an immature Bald Eagle seen on Tuesday, Dec. 28th, 2010.  It was probably looking for a meal amongst the feral Muscovy Ducks on the small golf course lake behind my home.  It always pays to have the camera handy, as you never know when something like this will make an unexpected appearance!  Credit to my husband for snapping this shot.

On Dec. 24th this hummingbird showed up at my feeders.  I usually have at least one Rufous Hummingbird overwinter in my yard.  This one was very late arriving and I had begun to think I was going to have a hummerless winter!  It is most probably an immature male Rufous, but I need to get my bander friend here to trap it for a definite identification.
